Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

This is a very moist cake baked in a tube pan which I have adapted from another awesome cake recipe that I have, Ponderosa Cake. I decided to make this cake as a birthday cake and add an orange flavoured frosting for my grandson's birthday. It was a huge hit!

1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 ripe bananas, mashed
3 ¼ cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 cup sour cream or plain greek yogurt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, chopped in small pieces



  1. Cream together butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, beat with a mixer.
  3. Add vanilla and bananas.
  4. Add dry ingredients to banana mixture, alternately with sour cream or yogurt.
  5. Stir well and mix in chocolate chips.
  6. Pour mixture in a greased tube pan.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
  8. Let cool and top with an orange frosting.
