Cinnamon Rolls

My mother used to make cinnamon rolls from left over pie pastry. In fact, you can use the same ingredients to make delicious pie pastries and fill with your favorite filling. Both are simply delicious! Enjoy!

2 dozen

2 cups flour

1/3 cup sugar

4 tsp baking powder

½ cup butter

1 egg yolk

½ cup milk


Filling: ¼ cup melted butter, ½ cup brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon


Glaze: 1 tbsp milk, 2 tsp white sugar (optional)





  1. In large bowl, stir together dry ingredients. Cut or rub in butter until crumbly.
  2. In a small bowl beat the egg yolk in the milk.
  3. Stirring briskly with a fork, add egg mixture gradually to flour mixture.
  4. Shape into a ball and divide into 2 balls. Roll out one ball at a time.
  5. Mix brown sugar with the cinnamon.
  6. Melt butter in a separate bowl.
  7. Spread the melted butter on the rolled out dough.
  8. Sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Roll the dough into a log,
  10. Cut dough into 2 inch pieces.
  11. Place on a cookie sheet about inch apart.
  12. Brush with milk and sprinkle with white sugar.
  13. Do the same with the other ball of dough.

Additional Tips

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Baking time: 15 minutes at 375°
