Description

I have been using this recipe for 30 years. It is easy to make and tastes great.

2 lbs extra-lean ground beef
2 slices whole wheat bread
½ cup 1% or 2% milk
½ tsp curry powder
½ tsp chili powder
salt and pepper - according to your taste
1 tbsp fresh parsley
2 cloves garlic
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp olive oil
1 egg
1/3 cup cubed cheddar cheese
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1 can low sodium tomato sauce

Methods/steps

  1. Put the 2 slices of bread on a large plate and pour the milk over them. Let soak.
  2. Add grated garlic, curry and chili powder, salt, pepper, parsley and ketchup to ground beef.
  3. Add onion and cheddar cheese.
  4. Add soaked bread and beaten egg.
  5. Mix well and put into a loaf pan.
  6. Mix olive oil with the tomato sauce and pour over the top.
  7. Bake at 350ºF for 1 hour.

Serve with baked or mashed potato and broccoli.
